Korn frontman Jonathan Davis has gone about organising a major boycott of the oil corporation BP, due to the disasterous Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Korn have created an all-star coalition including Lady Gaga, Rise Against and Disturbed with the aim of boycotting the petroleum corporation by committing "to avoid the use of fuel sold by BP or its affiliates on their upcoming tours for 2010" according to an official press release.
Early estimates are that at least 100 vehicles will participate in the boycott over the coming months. Davis's message to the masses was "This is the worst thing that has ever happened to the environment in U.S. history. From everything we're hearing about now, it's become clear that BP cut corners to put profit ahead of safety. The message we are sending should tell all the oil companies to spend the money and take the necessary precautions to make sure this doesn't happen again."
This sentiment was reflected in a recent interview where he said "We're not going to put them out of business or anything, it's just [about] trying to say that you need to be held accountable for destroying these people's lives. Why didn't [they] spend that extra money to make sure that this didn't happen?" "They need to be held accountable to make sure the safety measures are there."
